Light Sussex |

Utility Light Sussex pullets have been bred for better production than the Light Sussex, but their black markings do vary a bit more. They will produce approximately 240 brown eggs in their first year of lay and are a large bird. They will carry on producing good quality eggs for years. |

We buy our stock in as point of lay pullets (16 Weeks minimum). Our selection of chosen breeds is based on their hardiness, docile temperament (though this is also down to the personality of each chicken), ability to produce lots of eggs & their appearance. This enables customers to create their own mix of colours and type of hen. |

A calm breed that grows to be nice and plump in appearance. Colouring varies from pure rich cream to heavily mottled with brown. Can lay up to 300 light brown eggs per year. |

Tends to be very calm and friendly hen. Lays a slightly darker tint of eggs, around 300 per year. |

Cuckoo Marans are docile. They lay approximately 240 eggs a year and their shell colour is dark brown. They make good Mums too if you’re looking to breed. |

Magpies are a Sussex type. Quite a large pullet, also with a lovely calm nature. They lay 220-240 brown eggs a year. They are well feathered with white lacing around the neck which does vary. |

A breed produced by crossing Rhode Island Red with Barred Plymouth Rock. Layer of up to 280 eggs per year. Markings vary from mostly black through to a heavily marked with gold feathering. The black feathers have a beetle green sheen. |
